Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in their pursuit of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman.

The 22-year-old, who already has 15 international caps to his name, was watched by Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley and scouts of Manchester United and Tottenham in PSV’s 3-1 defeat to Ajax on Saturday, The Daily Mail reports.

Also wanted by Real Madrid and AC Milan, Strootman’s agent Chiel Dekker confirmed that the Red Devils had joined the race to sign the £20 million rated star next summer.

Dekker told TalkSport: ‘All the top clubs in Europe know about Kevin, but a move to England next summer is his first priority and, yes, Manchester United and other big clubs in Europe have been in touch with me.’

PSV coach Dick Advocaat is reportedly resigned to losing his midfield maestro to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Advocaat has already targeted Oscar Hiljemark from Swedish champions Elfsborg as a replacement.
