Everton’s birthday message to David Unsworth got the reaction that the club probably wanted to avoid.

The Under-23s manager and director of coaching is celebrating his 44th birthday today, and as a gift, some fans want him to be handed Ronald Koeman’s job.

The Dutchman has had a torrid season so far, guiding the first team to just two Premier League wins in eight matches.

The team were a matter of minutes away from recording their fourth league defeat on Sunday when Brighton’s Anthony Knockaert scored with eight minutes left on the clock.

However, Wayne Rooney managed to snatch a late point for the Toffees when he converted from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

The difficult spell has left Everton just three points above the relegation zone and as a result, the fans are running out of patience.
