According to Don Balon, Eden Hazard has confirmed that he wants to leave Chelsea and join Barcelona this summer.

What’s the Story?

Following Neymar’s eye-wateringly expensive move from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain, the Catalan club are looking to spend some of their financial windfall and Eden Hazard was reported to be a target of theirs. Now, it is being reported that the Belgian is keen to leave Chelsea and join Barcelona ahead of the new season.

The report also claims that Real Madrid are aware of Barcelona’s interest in their long-term target and are concerned that the 26-year-old will head to the Nou Camp, effectively ending any chance of a future deal with Los Blancos.

Following their Community shield defeat to Arsenal, Chelsea have received some negative press regarding their summer transfer dealings, with many citing a lack of depth as an issue.

It seems unlikely that with the pressure of fans and media on his back, Conte would accept any bid for his star player. However, if the offer for Hazard, who is valued at £67.5million by Transfermarkt, was in the realms of Neymar’s transfer fee, the club may find it hard to turn down.

It is clear that Barcelona need a new forward man to resurrect the broken trio following Neymar’s departure to Paris. Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi remain the two star men at the Nou Camp and they would need a player of a similar calibre with them at the top of the field to ensure continued success…and there are few better players in the world right now than Eden Hazard.
