THE BIGGER PICTURE
Sancho was also left out of ten Hag's squad for their opening fixture, against Fulham, despite coming on as a substitute in the Community Shield against Manchester City. The Red Devils boss has already said that players who are left out "have to deal with it", but the ex-England star has been linked with Juventus, and could well seek an escape route before the summer window closes.
After the match, Romano revealed that United are negotiating transfer deals for Sancho and that was the reason he was left out of the matchday squad on Saturday. Juventus are close to signing Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina, however, they remain interested in signing the England international.
